Dear Quilters,
January has come and gone. Our project leader Tess seems to have some great ideas and with the members input, it should be a fun year.
Tess has indicated that the center for your round robin does not have to be the tradtional square maybe try a rectangle, just be creative and join the mystery tour.
The BOM patterns are all listed so please check them out before the meeting. The FQ themes are also listed so for February bring hearts or red fabric.Tess has mentioned a President's block project. She would like for anyone that wants to submit a sample for consideration to please bring it to the meeting this month.
The extra charity quilts project sounds interesting. I can't wait to hear more and have my chance at contributing.
Several things were touched on at the meeting, but the weather was not condusive for much discussion. Please come to the February meeting with ideas and thoughts as we will ask for discussion on several things. I will be asking for ideas for our fair booth-challenge? be thinking.
Betty

December 2011

Hello quilting sisters,

January is just around the corner and another quilting year will be starting. Upon looking at my work calendar with Bigge's Country Kitchen, I discovered I will be out of town on a catering job for our first meeting. I wish things could be changed, but I know my VP will do a good job in my place. We have all had several emails from Tess who has some great ideas for programs each month. One of the things is the round robin. I know I enjoyed it last year. One thing is that I would want all of us that participate to draw for a group and not prechoose your group. We all know each other somewhat, but the surprise is seeing how others choose to make the border and having it fit with your block.

Did everyone finish their projects before Christmas? I know I am one that did not. I tried but there were not enough hours in the day and I need my sleep to be able to function. If I was not working for Bigge's I was cooking for the hunters in our lodge. I am ready for hunting season to end.

I have talked my sister in laws, my sister and one fo her friends plus my daughter in law and grand daughter to do our own round robin. They are very new to quilting but are willing to give it a try. Should be fun.

I hope at the January meeting the committees get filled up with volunteers. I will check it out when I get back from the catering job and see if I need to ask for volunteers. I would prefer that the quilt show be postponed a year, but will go along with the majority vote. If not postponed I ask that the weekend not be September 15th as I have a family commitment that weekend and I very much want to be a part of the show. I will see you in February unless the catering job gets cancelled.

Yours in quilting Betty

October

Hello fellow quilters,

Where did October go? On my last trip to Dave’s he made the statement to me that the older he gets the faster time seems to go by. I just laughed, we have all been there, and it’s funny to hear your kid say that very same thing. Since time goes faster as we get older maybe that’s why I can’t seem to get things done.

At guild last month we had a discussion about whether to have our quilt show in 2012 or wait until 2013. Be thinking about that and let us know your opinion. Waiting would have its advantages for the newly elected officers. We have Betty B as president; Jean B.as vice president; Kenda R. is secretary; and Karen R. is the new treasurer. Thanks ladies for stepping up, I know you will do a great job. I will have a signup sheet at our next meeting for committees so be thinking about which committee you would like to join.

I had a very nice visit with LaVern when I took her the quilt the guild made for her. She is looking so good and hopes to get to a meeting sometime soon. What an inspiration that lady is!

We decided a couple of months ago to have a Judy Niemeyer teacher come to Stockton for a trunk show and class. The date has been set for March 30 and 31st. The trunk show will be on Friday evening and the class on Saturday. We will have some planning to do for this one. Since time goes so fast we don’t want to wait. See you all at our next meeting.
