August Meeting Minutes

 

Crossroad Quilters August 2007


Karen called the meeting to order with 28 members present. After refreshments we had our "Show and Tell" Janie gave the financial report.


We discussed our fair booth and Karen thanked everyone for participating in the booth and helping putting it up. Janie reported we have a place to store our quilt racks.


Karen will pick up fabric for our "Quilt Challenge". We will have more information about the challenge at a later date.


Jana showed the guild members a scarf that the Oncology Department uses and it was decided that Jana will make a pattern and the members will sew some of them on Sew Day. The pattern will be in the newsletter.


Janice reported that we are invited to Heritage Quilt Guild at the 4-H Building in Norton, September 8th. Pat Knoechel will present a program there at 7pm.


The Downs Quilt Guild will have their Show on September 8th at the Parish Hall in Osborne. Pat Knoechel’s program there is at 11:00 am and 1:00 PM. The Quilt Show is from 10 to 4.


A motion was made and carried to donate $100 to the Stockton Library for the "Native Threads" traveling quilt exhibit May 15-June 20, 2008 in Stockton. We will make the donation next year.


Sew Night will be September 10th in Stockton, 5-9 pm , Soup and sandwiches will be available. Sew Day in Plainville will be September 12th.


Remember the Birthday FQ Swap!


Door prize was provided by Erma and won by Kay. Joan won 14 Fat Quarters in the FQ’s Drawing.

September refreshment committee is Nikki, Linda, Karen B. & Berdena.

Dear Crossroad Quilters:

Thanks to the ladies who brought items for our fair booth, and to those who helped set it up and tear it down. Ladies who brought items were: Donna, Barbara C., Karen R., Dalene, Betty H., Janice, Jana, Elda, Gladys, Janie, Annette, Sue M., Marge D., Nikki, Bertha, Linda G., Elaine H., Idona, Betty B., Marilyn, Dorothy, Joan, Erma, and Susan Ga..

We also had quite a few ladies from our guild who entered quilts in Open Class. These ladies include: Idona, Dorothy, Jenny N., Joan, Susan Ga., Gladys, Dalene, Karen R., Erma, LaVern, and Karen B.

Gladys Marcum was the winner of the ribbon and prize we sponsored for "Best use of Color and Design". Congratulations Gladys. Gladys and Janie did an awesome job on the ribbon for this award.

I hope to make it to Glade soon to get the fabric for our challenge.

Sew Days for September are **Monday the 10th from 5-9 p.m. in Stockton** and Wednesday Sept. 12th in Plainville. Come join us if you can!
