From the President:

Dear Crossroad Quilters

FAIR BOOTH -- Time is getting short to work on your project for the booth. We'd like to have as many items as possible in our booth. Even if you only have time to make a pot holder or placemat, we'd love to have your contribution.

We will set up the booth Sat. Aug 11th at 9 a.m. Please have your quilts there by 9. If you are unable to get them there, you can either take them to Betty H. or myself.

We would also like to have our Guild well represented in the Open Class entries. Joan challenged everyone to try to enter at least one project. Let's show the public that quilting is going strong in Rooks County!

For those of you with internet access, I have really enjoyed spending time looking at quilts at HGTV.com: Rate My Quilt. Last Month when I posted about this I didn't have the link, and I realized that it was kind of hard to find. Here is the link: http://ratemyquilt.hgtv.com/SNC/Main.aspx?&pguid=06acca86-b7bc-43fe-b9ef-4839815f6f1c

For those with satellite TV. Some of the ladies informed us that Eleanor Burns is on at 1 or 5:30 on RFDTV. Check your schedules for times. Channel 231 on Dish network.

Check your calendars for the Birthday FQ swap.

We are still missing an Eleanor Burns book from our quilting library. Please check your book shelves. If you see any former members, ask them if by chance they have the book.

Sew Days ***** Date Change for Stockton**** Sat. Aug 4th in Stockton, and Wed. Aug. 8th in Plainville.

Aug. 20th is our next meeting.

Ladies in charge of refreshments for the August meeting are: Jana S. Susan G. & Annette L.

Happy Quilting!
Karen

Fair Block of the Month

The block of the month for August was the Lattice Square. This is the pattern that was selected at the August meeting to be used for next year’s fair.  Have fun creating different designs. How many different looks can we create?  The Link to the Quilters Cache web page is http://www.quilterscache.com You will need to select free patterns and then 12” size. If you would like a paper copy of this pattern please let me know.

August Program

We are going to do something a little different. Everyone has been working hard all summer so I thought maybe a little something different would be fun (besides I couldn’t come up with anything else). So we are going to learn to make ribbon roses. I just got back from my cruse a few weeks ago and this is one of the things we did during one of the at sea days. We had a lot of fun and thought I would share it. I know some may already know how to do this but it will be fun anyway.
